Let me tell ya..it feels awesome to see a lower number on the scale every morning. It feels awesome to know that Wii fit says I've lost 6.6 pounds since getting home from Arizona..and to also have my own scale agree. And honestly? I haven't been working out. I haven't been able to get a real shirt on because of the sunburn..muchless a sports bra. That's coming soon though. Probably on Sunday I'll start the treadmill again. I've just been eating. Nicely. Pretty naturally, really.
For breakfast I usually have one slice of whole grain toast with half a tablespoon of butter and a handful of berries or other random fruit. Morning snack I'll have an apple or an orange. For lunch I'll either do a big salad (with or without cut up pieces of a Morningstar Farms chik patty) or a decent serving of leftovers from dinner the night before..snack will either be cut up veggies or a fruit and then for dinner I eat whatever but stay in my calorie range (and something that's been bugging me is that all of these food blogs don't normally do the calorie count and I'm like..ahh!! just tell me!)..and while I'm cuddling up with Orion at night watching a movie or whatever..I'll have one of those real fruit popsicles. I drink plenty of water throughout the day. I'm *not* hungry one bit and I feel GOOD about what I'm feeding myself..even though it's roughly 1,000 calories every day. I'm not starving.
I hate that I'm 26 and I'm just learning how to feed not only my body..but my family's bodies correctly. I've been pretty awesome about learning HOW to cook since I've been with Orion (even though I swore I could cook before I met him..and now that just makes me laugh)..and now I'm learning about WHAT to cook. I love opening my fridge and seeing mostly fruits and veggies and knowing they actually get eaten and aren't going to waste. I'm paying more attention. What can I substitute in this meal that'll make it healthier for us? What desserts can I make (because I still love baking..you can't take that from me.) that won't kill my day's progress? I've been reading that little calorie book and I've been putting mental sticky notes about what restaurants have the healthier choices and even sticky notes about what won't be overkill if I DO go places like McDonald's or Burger King (and it ain't the salads, I'll tell you that). Because while I want to eat healthily..you can't take EVERYTHING from me. It's mostly just learning about what works. I don't want to deprive my body. I'm not that kind of girl. If I want something? I'll have it...but be smart about it.
I feel like there's hope for me.

Way to go, Abby! If it helps you feel better, I will be 32 this year and still don't know how to properly feed my family. But at the same time, Josiah won't eat veggies...like at all, so I do what I can. I always hear people talking about the things they make and I'm just amazed at how healthy sounding it is and that their husbands/kids actually eat it too! One day, I'll be a smart/healthy cook. Until then, we eat our comfort foods! YAY US!
So proud of you, Abby! xoxo!
