33 Days and Thanksgiving!

This year, I cried at the dinner table. I cried because I truly am thankful. I kept it simple. I'm thankful for having Orion home with us this year, for our babies, and for my family. Simple and true.

The spread. Now, I don't own any fancy serving dishes yet..but whatever. Mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, turkey (just the breast..no bones), yams (this was the first year I've made them from actual yams and not just popped open a can. Well worth the extra effort), cranberry sauce, gravy, dinner rolls. Recycling and dirty ACUs in the background.

The set up.

The mom dishing up food for the babes

babe #2 poking around

babe #1 spots dinner roll

The dad serving himself some grub

This man.. I swear to you..was in heaven. He couldn't get over the turkey (I didn't do anything fancy to it..just poured a couple cups of white wine over it while cooking and then basted with the extra run off wine every 30 minutes or so. But I'm *telling* you this was the absolute best turkey we've both ever ever had). He kept saying with his mouth full of food and his eyes shut in dumb pleasure how he married the best one. How he's going to be bragging about the deliciousness for years to come. Aw, that's sweet, hun.

I sat next to the messy one. I love those cheeks!! *gobble*

While I cooked, the husband vacuumed the entire house..even the couches..and *finally* mowed the lawn (it's been raining a lot lately..not many other chances for him to get out there). We watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and I think for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time in my life, I stuck around to see Santa. The kids and I were squealing when he came on "Santa!!! Santa!!!" because sometimes it's fun to be a kid. This was the first year that we've done Thanksgiving with just our small family. I usually invite people over to share it with us..but this year..this year was for us.

After dinner and after all of the leftovers were tucked sweetly into the fridge, I passed out on the couch for a couple of hours. Ah, sweet sweet bliss.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hil..the scale says I haven't lost anything new..and I don't blame it for thinking so. However.. I've slimmed down a little bit because I stopped drinking hard alcohol. Kinda weird how that happens haha

I love that you used candles just for your little family. next year I'm going to use candles, they made your table look so pretty. And how gorgeous are your eyes! What mascara do you use?

ps- for some reason your feed hasn't been showing up in bloglines. I'm going to delete it and resub and see if that helps.

Michele,

I change mascaras ALL the time because I can never ever find one I adore so much that I'll stick with it. Not yet, anyway. But the one I'm currently using is Revlon Lash Fantasy in blackened brown.

And I've noticed other places that my feed isn't showing up.. I wonder if it's because the blog's private now? It seems like the last one that shows up is the day before it went private so maybe that has something to do with it. I dunno!
