I'm trying to get into Halloween more. I've always liked it, of course..but I'm way more into Christmas than anything else. Anyway, so..we don't own a single Halloween decoration..but I'm determined to change that next weekend (I know..stuff will only be up for 2 weeks..but I'll have them for years to come!). I want my kids to get all into the holidays, ya know? I want to be a fun mom. We've also come to terms with getting slammed this year with trick-or-treaters. Last year? We bought all sorts of candy..and didn't get a single knock on the door (it's funny that in my mind I associate buying last year's candy with also buying pads, because I was still bleeding from giving birth at that point. anyway.) and that could have mostly been because we lived in an apartment complex with all college students (it was around the block, so ya know..). But this year? Oh sweet geeze, help us. There are kids *everywhere*..and I'm thinkin to myself 'self..if you were still a kid, a military base would be the perfect place to hit up'. Especially the townhouse areas, ya know? Then I laughed because the "wealthy" area's like..Prichard Place (if only we'd had 1 more kid when we moved in. DAMMIT)..and then ya know the post mansion that um..whoever lives in...but they're like super special hehe.
We are taking Calix out for his first bout of trick-or-treating this year. Early on in the daytime (with all of the other munchkins, I'm sure) so we can be home later for the onslaught of children. O doesn't see the need to take him out at all, but holy geeze..it's his first real Halloween..and he has this oh so adorable costume that MY mother made for him and it's not going to waste! So..we'll do our block. ..and maybe the one next to us.
And I suppose I can drop some good news here. Orion? Will be here for Christmas. And New Year's. And Valentine's Day. Which is possibly the reason why I'm so amped for the holidays. I sent out an e-mail to my entire family yesterday announcing I'm starting my Christmas shopping next week (because hello? we need to buy for 40 people..and the majority of them? like..all but a couple? are MY FAMILY. MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY.) so to please send me their childrens' clothing sizes and what they're interested in..and also..what do they need/want that they don't already have? Things of the such. So far? Only Hannah's written back with the sizes and things of the such because she's already started her shopping, too. Hahaha..I love Hannah (ps..we're only something like..14 months apart)! And of course my father (who now hates Christmas..or as far as I remember..because it's too commercialized. Pshh..that's the best part for those who don't ya know..do that whole church thing anymore) wrote back saying he had everything he needed in life so to please not get him anything..except ya know, make a phone call to him on Christmas and tell him I love him..and that? Is present enough for him.
AHHH!!! I'm just so excited! I might just pull a Hannah and bust out the Christmas movies and music! Eeee hehehehe..I love it sooooo much and the fact that my darling husband will be here for it just makes everything that much better!
