Docta Docta, Gimmie Some News

Well! There was a doctor's appointment today..and in 2 months, I've only gained 2 pounds..so YAY!!! I was so expecting the worst (as I usually do) but just 2 pounds! That seriously like made my day. Blah blah blah basic prenatal check up...and then? The heartbeat. Ohhhh yes..the heartbeat. 150..and after talking to the doctor she said there's this..myth about the heartbeat and how it'll be like..120-130 or something along those lines usually if it's a boy..and up to where my kiddo's was..if it's a girl. Eeeeeeeee! BUT then she was like "but I don't believe in myths" shoot..it's a girl. Pshh..it's so a girl.
Anyway, I go in on the 30th of this month to do an ultrasound..and you bess be believin I'm going to harass the shit out of the lady to check the sex of the kiddo..because I'll be danged if I'm waiting 4 more weeks after that.

...they stole more blood from me, too. Jerks! Nah..for the triple screen.. so that's always fun.

And..that's about it. We went down to Amandaville (and the surrounding area) yesterday. My mom'd e-mailed me a while back about a little family history game O and I could play out here. Her grandparents (my great grandparents) lived there. She and her siblings spent quite a bit of time out there as kids..had "their own" ponies and things of the such..so I guess she thought it might be fun for us to go see some things around there that are named after my fam. Okay..okay..we bit. We finally went. 2 hour drive there and (obviously) back..a cranky kid in the backseat and a mommy with a mean headache in the front. Seriously? We didn't really know what we were supposed to go see..or if my mom even actually WANTED us to head down there at all. It's not like we had any real addresses or anything..it was all kind of vague. We saw the street signs..but um..is that all she wanted us to see? She hasn't been there in probably (I'm guessing) 30 something years or so..and it's kind of changed a lot since then (oh dear god I'm hoping) so..I don't know. Once we got there it ended up being one of those "why are we here?" things. I was the only one saying that..O was like "it's nice to see where your mom spent time..and where your family and ancestors lived.." only WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT?? Random old men mowing their lawns? The cows? The goats? WHAT???
I was a fair bit grumpy by the time we left. 5 1/2 hours..and 3/4 of a tank of gas seemed to be wasted. Yes, I was glad we went down there..I just wished we had an actual purpose..landmarks or something. I did make a few videos where I'm cracking up because we were on what Orion called "A country ass road" (it seriously made me laugh so hard I was crying)..but they probably won't ever end up here. I do need to send one of them to my mother to see if maybe she can pinpoint her grandparents' old house because I sure as shit had no idea what I was looking for.

And I agree with Tamara... I check here every day to see what's new. I make notes on how to be a good mommy and wifey. Awww. I'm addicted though... just like with my soap operas.
