I woke up around 6:20 all groggy and full of the sickness but still had a small bit of Christmas spirit left in me (mostly why I'm SO angry about being sick. I was soooooo excited for soooooooo long because ya know THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST FIRST CHRISTMAS FOR CALIX EVER!! I'm gonna do everything right!!) so I poked Orion and poked and pushed and then finally jumped on him big belly n all and said
"O!!! It's Christmas!!!! Get up get up!!!!!"
and he said "but the little man isn't even up yet"
"he's lazy. go get the camera..we're wakin him up!"

And I know the quality of the video suuucckkksss but you get the idea. His faces were crackin me up so hard. He knew..he totally knew what was goin on. He kept opening his mouth all wide with a sparkle in his eyes like "Ahh!!! yayyy!!!" so excited type stuff..and I wish Orion didn't take him and run with him down the stairs with a heavily pregnant mommy chasing them down..but ya know. It is what it is.
Santa left all kinds of loot. We must have been a good family afterall, huh? My living room is even more crowded with toys now..I'll have to get a big ol bucket for them, I think. But Calix's book collection was heavily added to..and I love that part.
I finally got a sewing machine. No..seriously. It's for beginners and is totally awesome with all kinds of toys..and that's what I need right about now. I need to learn how to be one of those mommies that can do anything. I'll say Orion was very good to me this year..and totally knows how to get things off of a wish list. Haha.
Orion was also spoiled with things he can mostly take with him to Afghanistan. I think his favorite gift was an iPod because he'd been wanting one for soooo long and I found an awesome..can't pass this up kind of deal on a few. He also totally loves the watch Calix got him.
We apparently have some weirdo brand of dvd player and can't use Calix's Little Leaps (we're calling customer service tomorrow to see if there's any way around this whole thing). We may end up having to buy a new dvd player (even though this one is like a month old) at some point just so the kid can use this gift that we oh so HAD to get him.
Anyway, the pictures aren't the best..and Calix kept blinking in like all of them. But here are a few:
After bath time Christmas Eve.
Calix with Santa's milk and cookies before heading off to bed. mommy was too sick to make candy cane cookies afterall..so then she thought she'd make chocolate chip cookies..and was too sick for that..so she ended up making chocolate chip bars instead. Santa doesn't mind though..he likes variety.
Santa came!!! Horray!!!
daddy helps Calix open up his gifts
I can't tell you how much stuff was in those stockings. Thank goodness it's the only year we'll have to use those. Can't wait till my mom's done knitting the set for my little family. hehehe
he finally has his own key fob (is that even spelled correctly?) to play with instead of ours. It also has a matching cellphone. His 2nd cellphone and the kid's only 1 (shhh he doesn't know they're just toys). Kids these days, I tell ya. And his shirt totally says "I do all my own stunts" because yo, he does.
I've decided it makes a huge huge difference when you start doing your Christmas shopping in October. Ya know, before you find out you have to file bankruptcy. If I didn't start then..there wouldn't have been a Christmas this year.
We didn't end up going to dinner at Grandma's. They're too old to have sick people around them..it just wouldn't be nice. Instead, we stayed home..played with the new toys..and I slept. I ended up doing a weak Christmas dinner..if you can even call it that. But, I also made wassail..which O is a big fan of now and totally wants me to make it every year. Awww.
Anyway, I know it's late..but Merry Christmas everyone. I hope it was spent with the ones you love.
