I went out last night and bought all of the table linens and everything else I'd need for Thanksgiving. I did the entire dinner for my family in Colorado last year (okay, my mom did the rolls)..but this year I'm doing it for Orion's grandparents. I asked grams if maybe she wanted the year off and she took me up on the offer (she said she'll make the pies..but I, of course, still want to make my own).
I had a dream last night that I had to keep going back to the grocery store because I kept forgetting SOMETHING I needed, so when I woke up, I totally made my shopping list.
Here's my Thanksgiving Menu for this year
Maple Glazed Turkey (totally from Martha Stewart)
Stuffing (not sure if I'm doing homemade this year or not.. still thinking about it)
Cranberry Sauce (but you'd better believe I'm making it from scratch..no canned crap this year)
Dinner Rolls (the oh so yummy ones my mom's made every single year. SO *delicious*)
Mashed Potatoes (again, of course from scratch..but I'm adding a little something to them my grandmother doesn't even add..and lemme tell ya.. grams VanSciver's potatoes are where it's at..until now)
Gravy (uhh..staple.)
Candied Yams (I crave these all the time..but only eat them on Thanksgiving. mmmmm)
Glazed Carrots
Corn
Green Beans
Pumpkin Pie
Apple Pie (hate it..but Orion loves it)
Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Gingersnap Crust (look, I love cheesecake)
I have a feeling I'm forgetting something..and it's not the Waldorf Salad (I hate that crap.). Perhaps a phone call to the mother is in order to ensure I don't forget anything.
The day before, we're making apple turkeys..because we always did it in my house growing up and ya know, it's just something fun for the kids to do. I'd like to keep that tradition. And Thanksgiving morning is, of course, the Macy's parade.
Eeeee!!! I love the holidays!

OH MY I totally made a list two nights ago to go shopping today...I'm just about to leave but decided to get on...I forgot about rolls! Thanks! lol I'm so scared to make Thanksgiving dinner, I never have, and Ryan (without my knowing) asked a few guys if they want to come over because they don't have family out here, so I feel like I have lots of pressure! Can you imagine if I had all this food without rolls, they would think I was nuts! lol!
I totally wouldn't mind if Orion invited a few of his friends over..ya know, if we had the seating at the table. The more the merrier, I say! But I might also just be saying that because I'm from a massive family and am just used to having so many people around.
And oh my goodness..you can't forget the rolls! Are you doing them from scratch..or are you doing the frozen and thaw kind? if you want a couple of awesome roll recipes, let me know. you'd basically just need to pick up some yeast..and the rest you should have around the kitchen.
