We went on a picnic at Camp Carlson (which is also *really* close to us)..and I'd just like to state for the record that I. Hate. Bugs.

Orion and Calix sharing fruit snacks.

Calix's shadow cracks me up
my husband's hot. okay, and my kid's cute
After lunch, we headed to Fort Duffield where they were doing a Civil War reenactment..or something along those lines. But the old man that greeted us at our car said that if we wanted to watch, we'd be better off coming back the following day because they were just wrapping things up there. Orion was excited..yeah, we didn't go back.
We then headed to Otter Creek Park where we drove around for a while looking at everything there is to do there. We were going to go to the little picnic area and let Calix play in the creek with the other kids (assisted, of course)..but he was passed out in the backseat. Orion managed to get a picture of the Ohio River

so that's cute of him. I love that all of this is so close to us. Kentucky's beautiful if you give it a chance.
In mommy life: I went to get Calix out of bed the other morning..and the kid was naked. Just standing up showing off his bits and pieces like "hi!!". He'd only gone to bed in a t-shirt and diaper. I'm guessing he figured out how to take the diaper off..but! No messes! I saw he was naked and was like "Omg..Orion! come here! Your son's naked! omg..he probably pissed everywhere!" everything was dry and nothing smelled like pee..so..that's cute. He just looked so proud to be standing in his crib all nakie like..so I laughed..and then put a new diaper on him.
Also? He's finally standing on his own! I don't have a picture of it yet, because every time he does it, I think about going to grab my camera and him falling..or hearing the camera turn on..and then him falling. And ya know? My friggin camera batteries are just too expensive to leave it on at all times. Oh, and he waves..but that's not all that new. He'll wave..I'll wave back..then he'll crawl over to me so we can laugh and be silly. He also claps! I still say that for being as preemie as he was, my kid's a friggin ninja. I mean..I know he'll be 1 in 22 days (but who's counting down, right?) and he's not walking yet..but geeze.. I'm proud of him regardless.
In wife life: Orion wanted to make me an ice cream sundae of sorts last night..so..okay, go ahead, right? This is what he came back with:

No, I'm serious. What I said was "Uhh..where's the ice cream?" to which he replied "Jimmies!" "Did you..leave any jimmies in the container..?" "Mmm mm mm..I love jimmies" and as many of the jimmies I scraped off and plopped into his bowl, I still had a thick layer of rainbow jimmie wax on the roof of my mouth before finally giving up and giving him all of what was in my bowl. Friggin..gross.
