After Poltergeist came out, that tree gave me nightmares forever. The new owner had to cut it down i guess because it was, after all, One Dirty Tree. Now its just a silly well sitting there. It just looks dumb. Those stairs didn't end up making it did they? Anything to get cool!

And, Mom? I remember that snow ride well. I went down backwards and my teeth went right through my bottom lip when my chin slammed on the snow-packed stairs. It HURT! But it was fun. And it's okay that the dreams didn't come true. They served a purpose helping YOU to get through. :)

Chelsea? You spelled 'ghetto' correctly. You're not as bad as you thought! :)

I dream of a fantastic backyard too. It better hurry up! Lyns goes to college in 4 years! I remember basically being forced into going down that thing..and I also remember smacking into The Tree and then into the O'Connors' car thus spraining my wrist pretty badly. I remember having a hard time pulling my underwear down and up from potty use with one arm. I also remember sleeping in your bed because of it but you swear it never happened. I don't think dad was home though.Abbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13772859120482774595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30300011.post-19959932383540718722008-03-09T11:22:00.000-05:002008-03-09T11:22:00.000-05:00The other day I found an old old notebook with som...The other day I found an old old notebook with some cartoons I did -- and a sketch of my plan for the backyard at One Dirty Tree. It was to have included one of those really nice playground-things with swings and ladders and bridges and slides shooting out in several directions, and I wanted to pave the area from where the car was parked back to the garage for Big Wheel riding and put up a basketball hoop.
Alas, it was not to be.

But one of my best memories of all of us in that house was that time it snowed and you kids made the tobaggan run from the porch, down the steps, down the front walk, down one more step, past The Tree, and up the side of one of the O'Connors' cars parked in front and buried in snow. It was at night, and half the neighborhood came over with their little plastic sleds and snow tubes. You were very small and didn't much want to try it -- but with so many bigger kids around, you didn't have a lot of choice. :o)

And you're right about the number of kids on the street. We had 9, the O'Connors next door had -- what? 11? And the Hendricksons across the street ended up, I think, with 10. And then there was everybody else.YogaNanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03578904073378923196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30300011.post-84764856992167691102008-03-09T08:19:00.000-05:002008-03-09T08:19:00.000-05:00its not sad that you're doing that, i do that shit...its not sad that you're doing that, i do that shit all the time...nothing wrong with that...and hey all our childhoods were a little ghetto..yeah i mispelled that, that's how ghetto i am....ah haha lol...we should go "swimming" in the snow girly...hahaha how funny would we look, just laying out in our front yards doing the breaststroke....lolchelseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14961668557352471604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30300011.post-84993501924210691552008-03-09T06:47:00.000-05:002008-03-09T06:47:00.000-05:00Of course I remember it..but my main memory about ...Of course I remember it..but my main memory about that thing is when dad left the guinea pigs out to "graze" overnight and then Butterscotch choked and died on one of those holly leaves.
